Dragon Run 1027 - Saturday 24th March

On 24th March, Lisa Williams’ friend Arry, will be completing Dragon Run 1027.  Dragon Run 1027 is a 1027 mile, multi day ultramarathon, around the entire perimeter of Wales. Arry will be aiming to run the entire distance, which amounts to the equivalent of 39.2 marathons, back to back, within a maximum timescale of 45 days. It would be good if members of 3M's running club could help to advertise the event and maybe also offer support and help along the routes. Lliswerry 8 - Sunday 29th January

Congratulations to Ian Hoskins, Paul Lewis, Deb Reed and Nina Brocklebank who completed Lliswerry 8 on Sunday. Special mention to Deb who (once again) was first female vet 45. Results for our members are on our results page.

Castles Relays - 9th/10th June 2012

We have been invited to enter a team again for this year's Castles Relay (in it’s 30th year), which takes place on the weekend of 9th/10th June. We first entered a team in this competition back in 2002 and have taken part every year since except 2009 & 2010, sometimes we've had 2 teams taking part. Some of our clubs 'hardy perennials' such as Viv, Lindyloo, Fay, Christine etc used to take part as 'Swansea Ladies' in the late 90's. 

For those members who don't know what the Castles is all about, best have a chat with one of the members who's been on it a few times, but here's a brief overview:-

The Welsh Castles Relay is a long distance relay event that spans 211 miles. Starting in Caernarfon at 10.30am on Saturday morning, it winds its way to Newtown via 10 x 10mile-ish stages where the race stops for an overnight stop. The race resumes at 7am on Sunday morning at Newtown and finishes at approximately 4pm on Sunday afternoon in Cardiff Castle. If we get accepted into the race our club will have 2 minibuses during the event, one bus takes runners to the start of their leg, and the other bus picks runners up from the finish. Sounds simple, but it all takes a fair bit of organising. it's a great weekend and all done in a carnival atmosphere which our club play a big part in. Those that are unable to commit to the whole weekend, there are stages that are near Brecon/Merthyr which can be run.

More on the castles can be found here http://www.lescroupierswcr.org and you will see that we do not feature in their Roll of Honour list, this is because we’re in it for the fun of it, it’s not because the organisers have mistakenly left us out. For a more in-depth account, you are best speaking to someone who's been there, done it, got the laughter lines and got the slate coaster.
