Each year we hold a Grand Prix series of 10 races. Members are split into 'groups' according to ability.

Points are awarded in each race - 100pts for 1st 99 for 2nd etc. There is approximately 1 race per month.

Each race is held at a different location and organised by one of our committee members.

We normally have a buffet & a few drinks after each race.

A best female performance and best male performance prize is awarded for each race.

At the end of each year, the best 7 races for each runner count towards their final 'group' position.

In our annual presentation night, prizes are awarded to the top 3 runners in each group.

Race 1    Sun Feb 19th         Llanelli 10 Miles

Don't forget to get your entries in for our first Grand Prix of 2012

The first Grand Prix of 2012 will take place on Sunday 19th February.  It will be the inaugural Llanelli 10 mile run, an out and back run from the Discovery Centre, North Dock, Llanelli, start time 10am. 

Entry for the race is £10, however, the Club will subsidise this by £5. Entry form can be printed from here - Llanelli 10Miler.pdf.

The method for our club members to enter this is to either hand your completed form with £5 to Dewi, Geoff or Pilot, or to send your completed form to Dewi at 5 St Rhidian Dr., Killay, Swansea, SA2 7EL and write the cheque for £5 payable to 3M Gorseinon RR (please make sure you include your WA reg No.). Remember – no entries on the day.

The Race will start from the Discovery Ctr at the North Dock - one loop round the North Dock itself before re-joining the Coastal Path. Follow the Coastal Path towards Sandy Water Park where you will be directed around the lake anti clockwise before re-joing the main path at the Festival Fields. Follow the path then all the way down to Burry Port Harbour - follow the path around the harbour and then onto the footpath that runs alongside the by-pass road to re-join the Coastal Path at the point we normally have the 10k drinks station. Folllow the path then back past the Festival Fields to the Discovery Ctr. You won't be doing another loop of the lake so it's just a straight run back along the path from Burry Port to North Dock.

Details of all the Grand Prix races for 2012 will be advised soon, though we can confirm that there will be a GP on the last Wednesday monthly from March to September, with the only other `official` race GP being the Swansea Bay 10k in September.

For 2012 we will again be running an Age Grade version of the GP alongside our usual one.
The normal top 3 places in each group will continue to get prizes in the normal GP, but there will also be a prize/prizes awarded in the Age Grade version.
